Capitalizing on UE4’s beautiful lighting and real-time possibilities, Descent into Madness takes inspiration through the works of Thomas Cole and Zdzislaw Beksinski to push the players imagination. Visual que’s will also be triggered throughout the world, represented by a “madness” meter.

In Depth Storyline

The storyline in Descent into Madness builds on themes relatable to people in the real world like corruption and greed. Descent into Madness also uses themes more surreal that are unique to this world and based on complex prophecies you learn about throughout the game. To summerize the first prophecy which you must overcome in Descent into Madness, the player combats a lingering madness that blights the lands. This madness effects the player throughout the game in the form of visual and auditory hallucinations.

As we all know, sound plays a huge part in creating moods and evoking emotion. For Descent into Madness, we take advantage of this by using binaural recordings of voices that will be in the characters head and recordings of nature so the environments mimic a more realistic world.
